I am looking forward to this Prom - the reviews of Mena's recording were excellent .Anyond heard it ?
I had completely forgotten about it, and thanks for reminding me. Yes, some great reviews around, and I think I recall it was featured on CD Review, and that I was impressed. Great to read that Mena seems to favour bringing the Ondes and piano to the fore, which I prefer to the more reticent approach I've heard in the past.
Doubled my excitement in advance of tomorrow evening's visit to the RAH - thanks Barb
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
I'm hoping the forecast stormy weather puts off many from joining the Arena queue. I have arranged to finish work a little early, but will still not be able to get to the RAH much before the start time. The Mena recording is very fine indeed. Among the very best, I would say.
Calibs tried to send you a PM about this evening's Prom; but you need to clear out your PMs for me to be able to!
Cleared!

It's absolutely chucking down. You might be lucky, Bryn.

Think I"m going to have to stand outside on the rain for an hour, and then stand up with my backpack by my feet while listening to the broadcast, ( and check I turned my phone off at least 3 times) to replicate the Proms experience tonight. Really wish I could be there.
mind you, if Mrs TS tries to charge me £5 for an interval sarnie she will be bang out of luck.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Well the thunder's moved away now here, and there don't appear to be any more on the way: they seem to be stuck at Calais!
It doesn't sound like an sell-out then! That's a shame, some things can sound a bit dry if there aren't enough people in the hall. I suppose the rain put them off.
At least you won't get bullied by the stewards into standing up half an hour before the music starts, as happens so often to me.
