More interesting (and frustrating) is the way the BBC is throwing its might behind this Prom: first Suzy Klein making a mountain out of a molehill denouncing the 'snobs', then the BBC online news yelping 'snobs', now they bring it up again (in case anyone had forgotten?) on the news website.

Give it a break, chaps: it's not one of the most important Proms this season - you know, the ones you're NOT writing about.

I get the feeling as well that the BBC (who? dunno) felt the concert wasn't causing enough controversy. The impression I got from posts here was largely one of quiet but gloomy resignation ("We have been here before").

Still if you start calling people names and telling them to 'chill out' ( or 'get over themselves', if it comes to that), you're more likely to make them angry. Quod erat faciendum.

It wasn't the whole article - which is why I had to spend £2 before feeling able to write my reasoned critique.

I too have to be comfortable before I write . I remember when it used to be a penny, though.

same as I used to ge pissed off with idiots fighting at concerts.
It tended to make me think twice about being there, without ever actually stopping me. ( ref SLF Nobody's heroes tour).

Unlike the weather which does stop me if its a bit rainy,these days.

It tends to be the music that puts me off listening to (most) Proms - for example, there's nothing on this week that I would especially want to listen to, until next Sunday. The Proms season tends replace the varied fare we have in the evening concerts during the rest of the year with something of a 'monoculture'.

TBF some of the best of this music is very skilfully put together I think.
Quite often it contains some wonderful sounds.
I don't dance to the stuff BTW
IMO it doesn't belong at the Proms when so much classical music remains unperformed.
