It wasn't the whole article - which is why I had to spend £2 before feeling able to write my reasoned critique. Some major points will appear on our website today - link on Facebook - but I don't think Mark is up yet

The really ironic point is that you can rely on press publicity to be about the 'pop' (broad meaning) concerts. But to have a Radio 3 presenter writing a piece just before the Proms start and choosing to focus on the 'dance-party' Prom and hardly mention the main Proms seems, well, suspicious …
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I actually did shout at the TV several times at such moments. As soon as the player is preparing to serve in the 25 seconds allowed for this, as far as I'm concerned, the point has started and we should be seeing the players, not a celeb or a random spectator looking tense, even if Djokovic does bounce the ball seventeen times before throwing it in the air, I suppose you can't argue with celeb spotting during change-of-end breaks, if they must do it.

Beg pardon; I stand corrected (and apologies to MrGG too)...

Yes and, given that the amount of opprobrium that it has rather unsurprisingly attracted, one might wonder at her supposed agenda...

OK - so when is Radio 1 going to broadcast the Missa Solemnis during its Live Summer festivals?

When they do, it could be a special performance perhaps.

with Kyrie Minogue and Gloria Estefan.

                  backed by Credonce Clearwater revival..

Might go down well in their Ibiza Weekend. They could get Suzy Klein to present it - to give it a bit of cred.

They do seem to be a bit dim, not realising the lack of logic with their current messy and inconsistent policies.

There was some ballet from last year's Glastonbury, and opera has been broadcast from there too.

Ninety minutes' worth in a programme devoted to it? (Genuine question - would be glad to hear a "yes" response.)

Well apart from ER the rest of you (sorry, us) lot just need to chill out, we're all just plain tong says Pete:

DJ Pete Tong says BBC Radio 1's first Prom, a musical homage to Ibiza, will reach out to different audiences and help "keep the proms alive".

(Let me know when they're doing Shostakovich 15 in Ibiza, Pete, coz I also want to reach out! )
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

"Chill" is a retort that rebellious teenagers use when they don't like what they hear from people with greater experience.
