But that wouldn't indicate that they had bought tickets for other Proms concerts because they went to the Ibiza concert & were curious about the others, or vice versa, or if they liked both types of music already.

Also, not beyond the bounds of technology these days to follow up with a survey to enquire whether those going are: (a) regular classical music goers or (b) not classical music lovers and, if b, whether they have been encouraged to attend more classical concerts or listen to Radio 3.
Expensive things, meaningful surveys. Who's going to pay for it?

Here, once again (as there were no comments) are some more arguments put by a broadly sympathetic reviewer:

It's 'well-put', even if you disagree with the substance.

And the 'horses' bit is an analogy. I don't think the point is to focus on the analogy.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Just thinking: I don't want to reveal my so far disguised ignorance about the Radio 1 dance music, and so on, but - what role does Pete Tong play on these occasions?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Me neither, Cali. I googled "unusual uses for vicks" and there are many, (this is just one of many links), but couldn't see any relevant ones. Perhaps it reduces sensitivity to strobe lighting. I managed to watch on the red button for about 10 seconds but felt a migraine coming on.

              I think he's merely the C.B-H of Radio 1.

Another review in the Standard, but this one thought it worked:

"It’s all in a bid to introduce a new audience to the merits of classical music and, if last night’s clientele is anything to go by, it’s working."

Laugh? I'm too bemused. Is it so hard to understand that 'classical music' refers to a musical repertoire, not the musical instruments that are played? Or the people who play them? There wasn't any classical music so it didn't introduce any new audience to classical music.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I have edited your Vicks link to make it work.

My sources indicate that Vicks was used to enhance the the 'buzz' of 'wellbeing' associated 'exclusively' with 'attendance' at venues where such repetitive beats were played.

My link suggests one use is to stop racehorses from becoming distracted by the smell of other racehorses, so perhaps...

                          I've always preferred Olbas.
