    Promenaders' Musical Charities

A quick reminder of the distribution of last year's collection:

£41000 to Help Musicians UK (formerly the Musicians' Benevolent Fund). Registered charity No. 228089
£27500 to CLIC Sargent. Registered charity No. 1107328
£16600 to The Royal Society of Musicians. Registered charity No. 208879
£8500 to The Radford Trust. Registered charity No. 313775

In addition, we have received the final £672 from a legacy left to us, which has been passed to the National Youth Orchestra to extend the "support a seat" we have sponsored through the rest of the legacy.

And this year the collection will be to support:

Help Musicians UK. Registered charity No. 228089
CLIC Sargent. Registered charity No. 1107328
Jessie's Fund. Registered Charity No. 1045731
Music in Prisons (Irene Taylor Trust). Registered charity No. 1073105.

Updates on the total will as ever be made throughout the season via our Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/promenaders.musical.charities and Twitter, http://twitter.com/PrommersCharity. You should be able to see both of these without actually signing up to either.

The sums raised are a credit to the Promenaders who organise the collections, and to those for all parts of the RAH who help to fill the buckets.

... all of this should be funded by the state from our taxation. Charity is a lamentable solution.
