"Planning stretches three years ahead. The 2014 season is complete, 2015 scarcely less so." This was written in July 2013.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

[Oops, just seen Frenchie's similar comment.]

Back OT, there is a little more that I am REALLY looking forward to than usual, several concerts that I intend to see come what may, and some ( hopefully) great American orchestras.
But also a bit more than usual to avoid at all costs.
There are disappointing aspects to the programming that are a feature of every season, but its a long old festival, and if you can get past the BBC marketing speak and silliness, much to enjoy, one would hope.
And, more importantly, the season does still perform an important role in taking this music and quality of performance to a wider audience than the regular London concert hall crowd. Where else is core classical rep so much fun. ...and so cheap...if you don't mind standing, bad acoustics, queuing, expensive coffee.....I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

But I just wish that ... well ... y'know -
well, that I had more positive things to anticipate than saving rail fares and hotel bills. I have a little money - I was willing to part with some of it, if only ...Numquam Satis!

What's the view here on the Bristol Proms, in their third year at Bristol Old Vic?
