Yes, the guide says a first performance at a BBC Henry Wood Promenade Concert.
Agree wholeheartedly about mixture of material at weekends making a trip usually not worthwhile.
    But nothing new there.

Still, I shall be tuning in a fair bit during the season.

Brilliant performers and some interesting new pieces
which I bet you have never heard?

If they are new pieces, have you? Are you assuming they will be marvellous...? I am by temperament a sceptic (though not I hope a cynic) who is all too delighted (and relieved) to be proved wrong, rather than a neophiliac.

I merely try to recall the new commissions that have been really successful recently... Name them!

Meantime, tune in to Schmidt 2 via Spotify or any other means, you will not regret it.

I have heard several pieces by Shiori Usui, her music is extraordinary
I have also heard several by Betsy Jolas
BCMG never fail to deliver IMV

          There's a whole page here
Birmingham Contemporary Music Group commission and create music, hold concerts and events all around the world, and hold free music workshops for young people.

Of if you want Proms ones

Panic was a tremendous success and there are many others as i'm sure you will be aware of

(I wouldn't necessarily equate "success" with the idea that something gets played thousands of times or lasts for 100 years)

But, if you did, The Protecting Veil by John Tavener would still qualify as a successful BBC Proms commission.

Fowls free mantles and messy Anne's thumbing galena symphony is an unmissable

(Note to self - turn off spell-check).

In your dreams my smokie friend, BUT Only (and i'm sure this might be on the agenda of the BBC) if Basil Brush appears to read the "Glorious" (can't have too many of those) poem before the piece

"Of life and thought as still has to be trod,
Prepare to meet thy God." BOOM BOOM

Go and hear Shiori Usui's piece though if you get the chance

Like this ('music' (I assune) starts at appox. 1.25)?

                            HeHe!

I'll be at the gig for the Shiori. It's one of the EIGHT gigs that I think are worth going to (on first perusal).

I can't believe people are creaming their lounge-thongs at the prospect of Gerontius in September!!

This is a sorely disappointing Proms programme.

It'll only satisfy the most conservative classical music fan.

Might go that route in future if it gets good reports, but then again, if my local bookshop continues to sell me a copy of the printed guide as soon as it comes in I can look forward to annoying you all again next year!
Hope you all find something worth listening to, even if you don't get there in person.
I have raided Lady Gould's Fenwicks fund and blown 3 notes on the app which now sits on my iPad and iPhone. Initial impressions - rather good the search facility especially. On a Proms Extra listing on Sibelius there is a picture of JS with a caption underneath - Bruckner! But to be fair I have never seen them in the same room.....
