I suspect the Sibelius Violin Concerto played by Nicola Benedetti or Janine Jansen

I hope we don't get a Sibelius saturation this year. There are other anniversaries as well. The Proms tends to go all-out on one anniversary composer (see Wagner 2013), at the expense of others (see Verdi 2013). And it's usually the safe, popular composers.

We don't yet know whose influence is at work. RW for a good bit of it, and Mr Blakeman, I presume, is ploughing on. Applications closed on 23 February, so there should be an announcement soooooon.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Aurora Orchestra - let slip by one of the guests (Max or Alexander Baillie) on In Tune sometime between 1800 and 1830.

Friday is the one day of the week that I regularly look at the TV guides, for the music on BBC4 , and to see if anybody except Queen or Andre wotsit are on skyarts.

                  No luck.

Looking forward to having predictable Proms programmes to moan about.

Hope the BSO and KK get some gigs and something decent to play this year.

I have just collected my copy of the 2015 Proms Guide from my local bookshop.
Had better not say who/where in case they get into trouble for breaking the so-called embargo.
Had also better not leak any details myself.

I think John Drummond said some years ago that the Proms programme is finalised by the end of February each year. The publication of the Guide two months later with the embargo on details makes it very difficult for those of us who have to arrange holidays around work colleagues. By the time I know which concerts I want to attend I'm always last in the queue for picking up available slots and often have to plead with the boss for a particular day off. Needless to say, colleagues are completely self-centred about getting their preferred dates in early.

Is it really not possible to have the Guide published earlier?

No. Tough. Look forward to retirement or redundancy.

                                Effortlessly charming, as ever.
