Good stuff, bsp! A few alluring deductions there, not least the VPO in Gerontius!

    One tiny point:

Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

      Many thanks, bluestateprommer

I guess I'll be happy as long as there is a Sibelius cycle.

One might expect for a 'lighter' or perhaps more "family-oriented" concert that an assistant conductor with the orchestra, or a less famous name, would conduct. But it says something that TS is willing to take this on.
Thomas Søndergård and CBBC's Dick & Dom are also both scheduled to appear with the BBC NOW at the BBC Music Ten Pieces Family Concert next week in Cardiff: http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/e3wnc8

I've always been fairly relaxed about the new 'Family Concerts' at the Proms - in principle; though I felt they could have perhaps inclined to the ... classical ... rather more than the ... 'children's favourites' (D Who &c.). This Prom - assuming it will be the same as the Cardiff one, seems a step up. But, rather like Radio 3's Making Tracks, it seems to show a lack of 'David Munrow' calibre presenters to enthuse children: presenters who know what they're talking about, musically. [R3's Music Machine had Verity Sharp and Tommy Pearson].
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Thanks bsp for the detective work - sterling effort !!

Found another couple of possibles whilst idly browsing during my lunch break:

            1]

It might be worth looking at this - http://www.eif.co.uk/music#.VQC4kI7pyzk - as visiting orchestras at the EIF often also appear at the Proms.

                  Even more advance notice!

In today's Sunday Times (29/03/2015) Hugh Canning tells us that Karita Mattila will be singing the role of Emilia Marty in The Makropoulos Case at the 2016 Proms, with the BBCSO conducted by Belohlavec.

I did consider having a small bet (long odds ) on a big English choral work, maybe one not too often heard, for the first night IGI.

I've sung that - got a vocal score. Can't recall anything about it.......except that there was no enthusiasm to collect the scores for passing on (or future use).
