Under normal circumstances, is there any kind of protocol surrounding the flags and banners that are waved? And if the cameras happen to pick up a "political" one this year, well, isn't that just live television?

'Brigadoon' would fit well with the kitsch nature of the Last Night. I find the adolescent jingoism emetic and never listen to it.

Let's put it this way - when SR is on the radio, I have to be tied to a chair and handcuffed to stop me from causing widespread damage.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Good luck and best wishes to Maestro Oramo on the occasion of his first Last Night, conducting one of the most shapeless and bittiest programmes I've seen in a while. I hope the speech goes well

Like many no doubt I feel like not watching at all but could imagine caving in to temptation.

Maestro Oramo's presence would be one reason for doing so. And there is that moustache of course.

SR to my ears is the embodiment of that artificial cream that they used to put on cakes at school .

What embarrassing doggerel those Tim Rice lyrics resembled- an insult to the music.

Anyone else experiencing poor BBC2 audio reception via satellite? The sound is marred by frequent blips. Makes it hardly worth watching.
