EDIT - just picked up a nicely-placed late return for this one: Wednesday evening wasn't free till today. And now it isn't again. Can't wait!

E-Rob - can you make it?
    Alas no.

It has obviously escaped the attention of Mr W that Alwyn 1-4 are to be considered as one symphony in 16 mvts.
Whatever. having the Alwyn and Job in one concert is not bad at all, atually, it's a kind of bliss
A quarter of Alwyn 1 is better than nothing I suppose Roehre

Although I'd like to think that people are coming for the Alwyn - a long-time favourite of mine ever since Lyrita issued the 5 symphonies back in the 70's - I presume it is the VW offerings that have attracted the crowd.
It would be nice to think so,let's hope it converts a few to this marvelous composer.

For me this THE stand out concert of the Proms (arnell of a programme).

No - I tried earlier, too. ("Hoddinot" with "had enough" was no more successful).
