I notice from bluestatesman's list that it wasn't a "Sold-Out" event (although it does appear to epitomize the other usage of the expression) - does anyone know how well attended it was? (I'd've thought that anyone interested in Sport would have much more interesting things to do at that time on a Sunday morning.)

Yes, they played the TMS theme prom version during the Test at the weekend and it was truly dire, bereft of any of the spring and verve of the original. The problem with all this patronising programming is not only does it not introduce good music to people who wouldn't otherwise have heard it, it hijacks what might constitute 'good music' - forgive the shorthand - and serves up tripe in its place. A doubly missed opportunity.

But the sun is shining so I shall stop there.

If there was a genuine producer worth their salt on the Team Proms they would have insisted on at least one piece being featured from Henry Mancini's wonderfully diverse score for the 1972 Olympics film, 'Visions of Eight'.

Here's one segment that they could well have included:-

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
