As usual, regular checking of the 'pick your seats' option on the Proms website in the run up to a concert offers up returns - just picked up a pair of seats, ideally placed in the front stalls, for this Prom. I far prefer this method of booking - precise choice of exactly which seats one is paying for. I've yet to be disappointed by waiting until the week or two before a concert I want to go to...

There are a couple of other pairs of well-placed seats for this concert currently available.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It did sell out within 24 hours -- I can only assume there were some late returns. Same for the First Night and probably quite a few on this list....

Last update before the season begins on sold-out concerts, as of this writing (with one addition):

        Prom 1: The First Night
        PCM 1: Les Arts Florissants
        PCM 2: C.P.E. Bach
        PSM 1: Armonia Atenea
        Prom 21: Kiss Me, Kate
        Prom 22: War Horse Prom
        PCM 3: London Winds
Prom 29: Grosvenor / BBC Phil / Noseda
PCM 4: Janine Jansen / Sakari Oramo
        Prom 40: LSO / Haitink
PCM 5: Alice Coote / Julius Drake
Prom 43: BBC SO / Gardner
PCM 6: Louis Schwizgebel / Royal String Quartet
        Prom 53: Brahms Night
        Prom 56: LPO / Jurowski
        Prom 57: Mahler 2
        PCM 7: Benjamin Grosvenor
Prom 62: Stuttgart RSO / Norrington
Prom 64: Berlin PO / Rattle
        Prom 65: Paloma Faith
Prom 66: JSB St. Matthew Passion, Berlin PO / Rattle
        Prom 67: Qatar PO
        PCM 8: Nash Ensemble
Prom 75: Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Beethoven 9
        Prom 76: The Last Night

So lots of drop-offs from the list, but one new addition. Per caliban and mrbouffant, definitely a good point that single turnbacks pop up here and there, so no surprise of so many changes to the list. For example, the Halle's Prom was listed as sold out yesterday, but went back off the list now.

Best wishes to all of you from this side of the pond for a great Proms season. Will be listening as much as possible on iPlayer. Let the madness commence henceforth :) .

Surely only the Last Night is sold out in advance, The vast majority of Arena and Gallery tickets do not even go on sale until less than an hour before the Prom they relate to starts.

On the other hand, if the rest of the hall is already sold out, it seems likely that the promming areas will be too (pace such treaures as An Evening with Michael Ball, which the prommers seemed less keen on, apparently).
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Feels as though the Proms have been highjacked by a Classic FM/Radio 2 cabal.
