This is the Prom with Berio's Sinfonia on the 1st half, yes? London Voices should also be participating.

Sorry that the advance info digging (other thread) didn't dig up as much good stuff as last year. Oh well.

Don't be sorry. It was an excellent whetter of the appetite.

There was either none or very little last year too. I don't think RW cares for his music much.

cheers. It'll have to be iplayer for the 17th, as i have tickets elsewhere...../ depending on how you look at it !!

you don't fancy doing my proms planner, booking my days off with the boss, and doing my bookings online on the 17th May, by any chance?

your service levels are great, and I think you are meeting all of your performance targets......

Glock was a great Haydn enthusiast, as a perusal of the Proms archive suggests. Ponsonby, Drummond and Kenyon each continued the representation of Haydn on Proms programs during their controllorships, but it has dropped off precipitously since RW took over. With the next controller, and over the next few years, maybe that will change. But in a modicum of fairness, Haydn is not all that well represented on symphony programs in the US as a general rule either. Pretty much from the 12 London symphonies, if that, with maybe the odd cello concerto here and there. String quartets do like to program Haydn more often, since there's such treasure to choose from. Yet I will admit, Haydn with me often has greater appeal to the head rather than the heart/gut. It's not a reflection of its quality, but just of personal taste and reaction.

Anyway, getting back to the topic at hand, since am51 has all the info at hand, what's the verdict on 2014? Good, bad, indifferent, meh, outstanding?
