I suppose it was a rather obvious feed line...

On more positive note, the almost complete absence this year of toy trumpets, air horns and the like is very refreshing.

No. He's a bl**dy good jazz violinist too!

Ooh, I got the feeling during his second number that Madam Alsop wasn't a wholehearted Kennedy fan, and I rather think she's just confirmed it. Decent speech though (apart from her plea for more "inclusiveness" or whatever term she used) especially once she stopped reading straight from her cards.

I got the impression she didn't know quite what to make of him. Not sure she actually disliked him.

OG - Hm, could be, I suppose.

Ah well, so ends the most Wagnerian Prom season ever.

Do any of us? Know what to make of him, I mean.

Or, like MA, "have any adjective" for him Well-chosen phrase.

No criticism of Katie tonight ? She was actually far better than Sean and Suzie on the wireless.

Indeed no criticism of KD but a very positive endorsement of Ms Alsop who did a totally splendid job tonight!

Is Katie the announcer I mentioned in message 63?

Oh God, and apologies to his fans, but that George Lloyd march was so dull... (or was it the performance? 'lack' and 'lustre' are two words that sprang to mind).

This concert is horrible. (And I haven't even seen "Nige" - nor will I)
I have recorded the second half. Tomorrow I will watch the best bits, excluding anything originating from outside the Albert Hall - it will probably boil down to watching the three last items. I thought the first two pieces on the programme were good (Wagner and Bernstein) - I do not count the slight piece which opened the evening's concert. (What an ordeal it must have been to have been present for all those bit and pieces.)

When I read that I instantly thought of Kirstie Allsopp, the posh lady from the Channel 4 property programmes. Now she would have made a good job of the Last Night.
