    Did you notice the enormous gap between the 1st and 2nd movement, I think it was, of the Beethoven (although it might have been the Berlioz)? Jansons was waiting for quiet in the hall: he had a *very* long wait.
    He was waiting for latecomers to take their seats - if only the RAH would follow the policy suggested in yesterday's Guardian editorial http://www.theguardian.com/commentis...-no-latecomers

    The violinist was also swigging water, but the sweets seemed to ahve more permanent effect.

      That seems a rather half-baked editorial, I would almost say half-finished.

      And I agree with one of the comments that it seems a bit odd to say that applause between movements is OK, but the quiet admission of a few latecomers is not.
