I am quite happy for Rafferty to join them on the desert island for the menage a trois from hell !

I should like Louise Fryer and Jonathan Swain to present most of the Proms with Catherine Bott, Andrew McGregor and Donald McCloud as back up

      the KD/Pet shop/raffers.......what a disastrous shortlist.
perhaps they could save money and just show the concert with no waffle.

Did anyone hear the Bruch Concerto performance - I am interested to hear if Ms Frang had anything interesting to say about the piece.

I think there was the usual inane chatter with the presenter which had been pre-recorded. I prefer performers just to let the music do the talking.

In general, this is a good preference, although there are the odd exceptions, (Barenboim, Hough, for instance).
Idiotic questioning is no kind of help to performers, to be fair.

Unless I've misunderstood, Barbirollians was referring to her interpretation, not the chat. In any case, by way of a pleasant change, the soloist wasn't interviewed about her views on the concerto, perhaps she even prefers just to let the music do the talking.

In general, I do agree that the insistence on having the performers eulogise about the work they are about to play is extremely tedious, even more so as it now acts as a substitute for an exposition of the music's structure or content, which I would far rather hear.
