    well quite.
I just had a look through the BSO listing for this autumn. If you count post 1850 as new and modern.......

Same could be said elsewhere. Even at the Southbank, probably as up with modern "fetishes" as any big venue, its not exactly difficult to catch a concert with very traditional fare on offer.
As for catching a live performance (for example) of a major work by Simpson, Arnold, Rubbra and other Avante Garde artists anywhere at all in this country....well it would be nice, is all.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

In fact as the middle was Chilcotted, the fanfares were reintroduced, starting in the hall and then going around the parks (introducing some interesting variations in tuning in the process!)

... still less any kind of "Marxism"! As far as I can see there's some kind of fetish for aping commercial and popular culture - Dr Who tie-ins etc. - but this is quite obviously the opposite of Marxism. Ahem, sorry, getting a little political there. I have no opinion about Sea Songs.
