Will many attending #24 stay on for #25?

When I attend the Proms I nearly always queue for the Arena. There is a system whereby those attending an evening Prom use their 'cloakroom' ticket to join a priority queue for the late night Prom if there is one. I just wonder how many are likely to stay on from Prom 24 to attend Prom 25? Perhaps I am wrong, but I see a fairly low carry-over that night. I certainly intend to be there for #25! Must try to enure I am working on the 31st and resting the following day.

I've just looked at the Guide, and those two concerts certainly seem to be aimed at rather different audiences!

There have only been one or two occasions for me when the Arena was really packed for the late night performances, usually there is room to sit on the floor if you wish, or even lie on the floor. Interestingly. the seats are usually well booked. I doubt if you will have much difficulty.

I probably won't be at either concert, but the Henze // Stravinsky // Tippett on the following night is a must !

For me, it's the Zappa and Nancarrow that are 'musts'. The Glass may well fill the Arena but be musically half empty.

If it's as hot as this, won't two proms on one night be a rather daunting experience?

Maybe they want to make them attractive to different audiences ?

I seem to hear them on iPlayer mostly now anyway.

Shome mishunderstanding here, Glyn! I would like to go to Prom 25, but I'm committed elsewhere that night, hope you enjoy it!

Optimistically the Glass should be half full.

One can always hope. I thought Orphee was not too bad.

I'm popping to London for the weekend and hope to get to this Prom. However I doubt if I will be able to get to the hall to queue before 6.

Do you think I will manage to get into the Arena or will I be too late?

Given the programme, I would say that it will be OK. One factor is that there isn't a big name soloist, and that always swells the numbers. The queues go into the hall at 7 o'clock, so that gives you an hour. I'll certainly be there if I.m not suffering from Wagnerian overkill!

Thanks, ferret. I'll give it a go

Is there a favoured meeting place for FoR3-ites? Red carnations in the lapel and all that...

That would be nice, but there doesn't seem to anything so far, although my cover was blown a couple years back. Look out for friendly and knowledgeable sophisticates who enjoy making sweeping generalisations, and you are probably on the right track!
