Oh Simon, I hope your perl scripts aren't blocking us?

Update: actually I think they have now defaulted that page. No longer getting the hour glass on the front page - so the load has decreased...

Update 2 - over on twitter they are saying the site has crashed - some in mid-payment @RoyalAlbertHall

    Update 3 - after 1 hour 35 minutes I finally get a number

Got in at 3214 around 9:13, all done and dusted an hour later. My commiserations to all those having a worse experience. The rate at which the queue went down suggests that the system hasn't been upgraded since last year.

Not guilty m'lud (though, does Caliban do defence work at a discount for forumites?!). HTML/asp/web etc isn't really my area (just enough knowledge to do a Heath Robinson job) so it didn't do anything cleverer than what you could do by hitting a bookmark once a second until it works!

On my second pass for a few other concerts, the site still appears to be working for me, counting down the queue at 3500+.

Payment for the first lot was verrrrrrryyyyyyy verrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyy slow and I was bracing myself for yet another failure at the last hurdle repeating the pattern of previous years, but it eventually shuddered through.

9am on the dot. First time I tried they weren't quite ready as I went directly to that holding website full page. The next time I tried, the progress bar was very slow and to be honest I thought that I would get the website full sign again. But I got through to the waiting room.

Correct, you can't and they do state this clearly on the 'busy' page.

Interesting that now I am in the queue it indicates that I 'can retrieve my proms planner' if I wish. Meaning there is one queue for both those who plan and those who come in on spec?

Ah, no, your problem's not Wagnerophiles first and foremost but a rather more obsessive bunch altogether:

"Please note that tickets for the two Doctor Who Proms (Proms 2 and 3) have now sold out. Please check back for returns and Promming tickets will still be available on the day."

At least they took my advice to do that on twitter - count going down nicely now the DW fans are logging off. Who do we contact to make sure this is split off next year?

I hit the button at exactly 9am but still didn't get in until 9.43 at number 6693. Beginning to think that the system had crashed just at the moment I got in. This was my worst performance so far but managed to get all the tickets I wanted. That suggests that it was indeed the Dr Who hordes rather than the Wagner crew who were clogging up the system. I had time to do my normal Saturday shopping while it was counting down. The rate of 1 per second was the same as previous years so doubt if there has been an upgrade at all.

My only disappointment is that I have been allocated a Choir ticket for the Jansons/BRSO Mahler 2. Will try in mid-June to see if more seat tickets have been released (that's how I got in to the Dudamel Mahler 2 a couple of years ago).

Just under three hours! Two concerts were fine, but only cheap tickets left for Pappano on 19 July and only restricted view for First Night. Took the first, but thought First Night would be better at home (a very long concert too, so trains would be tight!)

I missed out on the Gergiev DSCH 10 - don't like the height of upper choir tickets. Have to be happy with the Gorecki only.

That's what the system told me - Band C prices too!
