.. As far as promming is concerned, those Prommers who have already attended the earlier concert will have retained the numbered ticket for their place in the queue earlier in the evening.
After the first concert ends, they leave the hall and form a new queue in ticket order.

Prommers who are only attending the late concert simply join the end of the queue.

If you have booked a seat, you simply leave the hall and re-enter when the doors re-open.

Only Arena Prommers have to leave; Gallery Prommers with Season Tickets or Passes valid for the second concert are allowed to remain in the Gallery. The Stewards do go round the Gallery checking tickets. Also, as discussed earlier, if the two Proms follow on closely enough, which they usually do, anyone with a ticket for the second one can make use of the bars and restaurants rather than leave the Hall.

I have just been informed that it was not kleines c, "Honest, Guv'!", although I would not necessarily believe anything that kleines c claims, Ferretfancy! He claims to have occupied all parts of the Royal Albert Hall, on occasion, but the best Promming Advice currently available is to steer clear of kleines c.

Helicopters have also been suggested in the Arena, particularly if Roger Wright decides to " ... get serious about Karlheinz Stockhausen", but in retrospect, paper aeroplanes seem tame enough. Was not a glider built to escape from Colditz Castle towards the end of the Second World War? Of course, we could always find some ferrets for you instead, Ferretfancy?

To be honest, french frank, we had hoped that you would have been amused by the deleted post, although I fully acknowledge that it was principally off-topic, rambling and highly disruptive. On topic, however, let us address the two opening questions directly again, parkepr, if only as an act of penance:

a. I've previously shyed away from the Doctor Who proms as I've thought they were gimmicks (even though I'm a Doctor Who fan!!) but they do look like fun and think I'll try one out this year...I was wondering if I purchased a weekend promming pass for that weekend does that offer a better chance of getting a good promming position in the arena than queuing in the day queue if I wasn't able to get there until 17:00 ish?

I don't think that PhilipT gave a particularly clear answer to this question, although I agree with most of what Philip does write. I would aim to get to the back of the queue around mid-afternoon (15:00) on Saturday 13 July 2013. This should give you a good promming position, although I cannot guarantee it, as both Doctor Who Proms will be very popular with Doctor Who fans and families with young children.

b. Does the weekend pass entitle you to join the season ticket holder queue (which I seem to remember from my promming days went in earlier than the day queue...)

Yes. Philip has already answered this question satisfactorily! You could even make the front row if you are lucky, parkepr. Enjoy Prom 2.

BBC - Prom 2: Doctor Who Prom

For the record, I do not intend to go to this particular Prom, I shall be up early on the Sunday morning instead, although some of the children will definitely be there on the Saturday afternoon, too. If they misbehave, parkepr, please do not be too harsh on them! As for french frank, I realise that you are most unlikely to attend any of these Proms this summer! We shall, therefore, all toast your good health, and the storming of the Bastille, on the Sunday evening.

Thanks you all for your advice... however I'm now drawing towards a double header on the 31st July with good 'ol Bazza and gypsies of Golders Green and then a little Philip Glass to send me home with... However I might still try and organise a day trip on the 13th July and enjoy a few London merlin attractions with the family and then go to the prom afterwards (sans family who have no interest in orchestral music (or though I might try and persuade the wife to let me keep the 6 year old as she might like it))...Anyway as I said thanks for all your advise... love this pre-proms season excitement!!!!!
