great one page listing, so many thanks for that Andrew.

For all the reservations, plenty of concerts i would love to be at , and hopefully a couple i will be at.

Also, does anybody agree that the concerts seem to have somewhat longer programmes this year?
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Genius! Many many thanks. So much better for browsing than the BBC website!!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

                More than last year? 28?

I suppose they still have to decide which ones will be shown on which channel.

I started doing the feedback survey on the site, but it was just the same questions as usual, not specific to the Proms site, so I abandoned it.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                  Good selection

You'll be able to see if they're blowing and plucking the same things in Stravinsky as in Rameau, mercs... Assuming you're not going to the Les Siècles prom, that is...

I must say I'm slightly bemused by those who think it's a bad thing that one person, the Proms Director, should be responsible for the Proms programmes. All serious festivals go to great lengths to find and appoint an individual with the experience and knowledge to plan their programmes but they also expect their director to have a highly individual approach and pursue his/her own interests to some extent. It's what gives a festival character, as opposed to the deadly blandness that you'll get if it's programmed by committee. OK, some people will always dislike the approach of a particular director, but that's the price you pay for individual creativity.

Robert, I know this isn't your point, but I can't resist saying that as far as I am concerned, seven Wagner operas in one season plus the complete Ring cycle times two (three? four?) on the radio is deadly bland. I'd consider seven operas by anyone in one season deadly bland.

Totally agree Veronika. IMV, excessive anniversary observances are a sign of dull and uninspired programming. For some reason in the last few years it seems to have become a sine qua non that all festivals must celebrate an anniversary. If a composer is worth hearing then whether or not it is an anniversary year should be irrelevant.
