I shall be listening to this concert with interest. When I took Grade 8 singing, two and half years ago, I wanted to sing a Faure song as my non-English choice, but despite being a reasonable French speaker, I found it surprisingly difficult to sing, so I chose a Brahms song instead, even though I know only two German words.

These are the comments on the recital, are they?

I was thinking of flagging it up as the Now iPlaying item.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Am I the only person who listened to this? I heard it on the car radio during a welcome lunch break. I'm no expert on French song, but I love Alice Coote's voice and thoroughly enjoyed the recital - not forgetting the excellent Julius Drake of course!

Nope, I heard it too, albeit after the fact via iPlayer and not in real time. Agree with DoctorT that this was a very fine recital from AC and JD. I've not heard a song recital yet in Cadogan Hall, so it would be interesting to see how it compares with Wigmore Hall for song recitals. If I ever return for The Proms, maybe I'll get to catch a song recital at CH.

Wasn't it good! Reassuring that we still have proper singers like Alice Coote.
