I really would have thought a brief interval of (say) 5 minutes would be appropriate between the two works.

Considering the change of orchestral personnel, there probably will be!

Really looking forward to this one: Niquet and the Spirituels are superb.

And that the grand centrepiece doesn't catch fire!

In the old BBC Messageboard daysl I remember commenting on the over-enthusiastic HIPPster editor, who wrote the word "presto" the beginning of the famous Air in the F Major Water Music Suite. I understand that neither of the contemporary manuscripts have any such indication.

This is a Prom I'm really looking forward to, despite the ridiculous late night home.

                    Name of editor?
                    Edition s/he edited?

... or is this just yet another wishful-thinking yarn "remembered" from the thin air of those Alpine summits?

Steady on, Alpie! Using contemporary sources to back up your argument?! You'll get thrown out of the !Anti-HIPPster Club!

It's the "new" Eulenburg score - will look up the editor when I get home.

The problem here is that we rely mainly on the Arnold version, which is a copy, not a Handel original. I'm not so much an "Anti-HIPPster" as an "anti-make-it-up-as-you-go-along-and-call-it-historically-informed-ster". I buy many HIPP recordings, but none of them are Norrington's.

I rather hope they put the fountain back with a royal barge or two, but I doubt it!

Yes, when you mentioned "Eulenburg", I thought it must be he, and I rushed for my own copy - only to find that I only have his edition of the Fireworks!
Fiske is (usually) a scrupulous editor, checking different sources very carefully and presenting his "findings" in the prefaces of the scores. Perhaps he had an off-day? Or perhaps there is a contemporary edition with Presto marked?!
