That's what is on the two recordings, I think...

Yes. It remained unrecorded until 1977, then two came in Silver Jubilee year.

        Then nothing...

So this performance is most welcome.

Mahler 8, 2010. So not that long ago really.

Well, hear we go! The 2012 Proms are nearly here.

Why are we not getting the concert live on TV? I'll be listening on R3 to the first half then flipping over to BBC2 to catch it again.

.... Sums up the whole farcical nonsense that the Henry Wood Proms have become.

Just fancy, we can now hear what the composer really wanted to express, so we don't have to go to the trouble of actually listening to the music at all. The wonders of modern technology!

If that's 'progress', then "I'm walking backwards to Christmas".

                        Bit sweeping, Horny?

Though I accept that the 'imagined thoughts' thing does sound like total bollocks.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I am allergic to 'tweets' I shall record it in the hopes that I can pick and choice any music I want to hear. Otherwise,CDs or another early night beckons.

Wot happened to the old days? Rember once that they had Prokofiev Ivan the Terrible as the opening number. Now that WAS a good idea!

Agreed, though at least we can choose NOT to press the red button.
