Accommodation during the Proms 2012

I have just received an email from Imperial College, saying that they are now taking bookings for this summer. Anyone hoping to stay at Beit Hall, which was not available for the whole of last season, needs to know that they are insisting on a minimum four night stay (not much good for those of us staying for the last three nights of the season), and the room rate (for a single room) is £85 per night, which means a total of £340 for four nights!!

Considering the fact that I paid around £150 in 2010 for the last three nights, it is doubtful that I'll be staying there this season

I would have thought, for those here who live in London with a spare room, a tidy sum could be earned by renting out the room to fellow Boardees? And, it could be loads of fun!!!

Hi Hilary Jane, Why not try the YHA in London, they are busy I know given that the Games are on, I'm in YHA Holland Park for the opening weekend, YHA London Central for the 2nd weekend, they only charge £34.60 per night at London Central with Continental Breakfast, worth a try, hope that helps, Regards, Ian

& YHA's in Holland Park, London Central, St Pancras & Oxford Street are all virtually on the No 10 Bus Route which as you know goes past the Hall, Likely to be less packed out than the tube during the games as well, :-),

I had the same e-mail as Hilary Jane. It is correct that Beit Hall are only accepting bookings for four night minimum stay while the other locations are accepting bookings for a minimum of SEVEN days.

The game is given away in the guff on the front page which burbles on about 'being only a hop,skip and jump away from all the Olympic action'.

This is rank profiteering and I hope everyone gives them a wide berth. Some of these leeches need to be taught a very big lesson and I hope they end up with plenty of empty rooms.

As already mentioned on another thread, the experience of other Olympic cities has been that tourists flee and rooms are plentiful. I'll be holding my nerve.

There's also an HI-YHA hostel in Earls Court to consider, depending on the dates that you'll be in London for The Proms, of course:
