Also forgive my ignorance but surely the Olympics are over by the time of the Last Night?
The Olympics themselves may be over by the Last Night, but the Paralympics will not be over until the day after the Last Night.
I do love the idea that Beit is "only a hop, skip and jump" from the Olympics. It's a bit further away than that! On the other hand, I actually live about 15 minutes away from the Olympics, which may or may not be a good thing come July!

Unless I told them I was going to the Proms not the Olympics? Perhaps?Last edited by Petrushka; 11-03-12, 16:17."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

They're giving the 'Olympics dates' as 27th July – 12th August (in the case of this particular hotel). Proms are 13 July to 8 September 2012 so careful scrutiny of the Proms calendar is needed! It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. I can't say I'm surprised, when even places such as Beit Hall were charging £30 more per night than usual, and insisting on a minimum four night stay. I wonder how long it will be before hotels start drastically reducing their room rates, although at this late stage I doubt it will make much difference because people attending the Games will already have accommodation sorted elsewhere. It shows how much hotels were charging when it's cheaper to stay in a hotel in Paris and commuting from there to the Games!
