    A remarkable performance!
Yes, a good concert and the Bridge Quintet really shows what an under rated composer he is.

Btw, was the volume as broadcast (FM) at the beginning of the oboe quartet really so low that I had to reach to the volume knob on my radio?
Yes, it was very low on my radio, too. I thought there were some problems on the stage, as I could not hear anything at all for as I felt to be quite a long time (I tend to keep the volume low in general).

I was in the hall, and the start of the phantasy quartet was certainly quiet but not, I'd have thought, so much so as to need adjustment. Perhaps the techies were caught out. Beyond that, a well-thought-out and finely executed concert; in particular, the Bridge quintet got the sort of passionate performance it needs.

Just listened to this, a wonderful concert. The Bridge quintet is surely a masterpiece!

Wow! I've just finished listening to the performance of the Bridge Piano Quintet too and thoroughly enjoyed it - what a remarkable piece.

I now have to go hunting for my socks

Despite being thoroughly enraptured by this wonderfully overwrought gem, it was a little vexing not to be able to pinpoint where I'd heard something very similar, particularly in the last movement. Fauré? Cesar Franck? Augusta Holmès? I'll have to hit the CD collection when I get home; meanwhile, all suggestions welcome!

Some of the contributions on this thread might offer you clues on Bridge's stylistic sourcings

Another terrific chamber music Prom from Cadogan Hall, a delight to hear on the iPlayer. Fingers crossed for more of Frank Bridge's chamber music in coming years at The Proms (and anywhere else, for that matter).

I know so little of his work and chanced on this. Stopped what I was doing, laid down on the floor, closed my eyes spellbound. Superb.
