It certainly worked for me...chalk it up to good stage placement, I suppose.

I too thought it worked, and was very pleased with the performance of a work that I'm quite fond of. The 45 boys were up against an orchestra and chorus of 200 going full tilt, and they held their own!

I realize I'm in the wrong country for this statement, but... I have a fever, and the only prescription is MORE COWHORN.

Speaking of announcers/presenters getting things wrong, Sara M-P said this afternoon in the Proms Plus programme that Britten conducted this programme in 1936! Now that would have been clever. She did correct it (to 1963), though without mentioning she'd got it wrong the first time.

SMP seems to have a problem with Britten. It wasn't that long ago that she told us that "On Wenlock Edge" was by Britten: not just once either, but both at the beginning and end of the piece. Still, mustn't quibble over tiny little mistakes eh....

Great concert. The Spring Symphony is a wonderful piece.

These lines make me shiver everytime I hear or read them.
