This Prom seems to be evolving. First of all it was just "Bach solo violin works", and that is still all it says on the BBC Proms website. But then other adverts showed the two works identified in the opening post of this thread. Then last week a work* called Das Pendel appeared after the two (or one and a bit) Partitas. What on earth is that? Pendel is the German word for pendulum, but I can't find any connection with Bach or Kennedy. Can anyone throw any light on this?

The advert for this Prom in last night's Prom programme also has some extra performers:
        Rolf Bussald, guitar
        Yaron Stavi, double bass
        Krzysztof Dziedzic, percussion

Curiouser and curiouser! I hope we still get 60 minutes of Bach as advertised.

        * Edit: I suppose it could be a nickname for the D minor Partita, but I've never heard it before, and can't find any such reference.

This seems to be his current touring combo. Perhaps they're going to jam after the Bach....
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Interesting, but I've never heard of an "invaluable" violin before. Does that mean it's a cheap Stentor?

What am I hearing? Or is this just my radio gone a bit off the track? Or … is it me?

              [ed] Thank you Jane. Phew...

I wouldn't be surprised if the English on that page is better than your Bulgarian. Why not admit that foreigners make mistakes in their English and read "invaluable" as "priceless"?

Incidentally, the prom is delayed "due to the time involved in clearing the NYO and the audience out of the hall".

Thanks Jane. I was just concluding that I had lost the old marbles. But wait! There he goes!

OK, apologies due, as you make a fair point. However, whenever we have overseas visitors on the Yorkshire coast, they generally speak far better English than the locals.

Oh Hell! I hope that does not mean we lose the start of TtN.

Listening to this concert on Freesat, I notice that although the music sounds very much like Bach' the display informs me that I'm listening to Britten's Piano Concerto & Gabriel Prokofiev's Turntable Concerto. I suppose I should be grateful we're not being asked to "text in".

Or if we do, I hope it's not one of the Haskil items that has to be cut... Looking forward to that very much.
