Currently, both Composer of the Week, and the Lunchtime Concert for 27th December 2013 have been made available only in "LO" bandwidth (49kbps 22kHz sample rate mono HE-AAC) versions, i.e. no HD Sound offering. I have reported the fault but it might help if others do likewise via https://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co....orms/emailPage .
Anyone else with similar issue?

I ask because this morning, both JRR and Hear and now, had good bass reproduction, as they had two or three weeks back on my new Dell PC +Creative speakers. There has been a poor patch in the intervening period. I tried adjusting the PC, but to no avail. Therefore I conclude iPlayer was at fault.

They have, for instance, changed the name format of the FLV files which play via the iPlayer Listen Again facility. Gone is the day and time information from the file/URL names. Some programmes have crashed software used to access them. Other programmes have appeared first in decent dynamic range versions, only to be replaced later by horribly dynamically compressed alternatives. All is not well with the iPlayer re. Radio 3 (nor with other BBC Radio channels such as Radio 4 Extra).

Just listened to Hear and Now from last Saturday which was at the level I would have expected; then turned to the lunchtime concert from last Weds (Stefan Loges) and had to rush to the volume control to avoid deafening the neighbours. The level of distortion was marked too. Another thing I've noticed is that the volume slide on the iPlayer itself doesn't seem to work - it's permanently stuck on 8 and after moving it up it just rebounds back to 8 again...
This is the page I'm using:

I've just had a listen to the Wednesday LTC and it seems to be fine now, perhaps someone corrected it.
(Some listen again programmes in the last few weeks have been exactly as you describe.)
The volume control is "curiously" implemented (at least for me). Just waving the mouse across the bars seems to change the volume - but you need to left click at the desired level to "set" that level. However, it seems to revert back to 8 when you listen to a another programme.

Available for 8 Days?
I’ve just tuned in this programme on iPlayer
07/05/2014
Two young quartets from Spain - the Qvixote and Gerhard Quartets. Quartets by Schumann and Mendelssohn's Octet. With John Shea (this is what I can see on the screen)
and I am listening to this
18th Century season: Ariosti's opera La fede ne' tradimenti (Last on Wed 30 April) with the notice ‘Sorry, this programme is no longer available.
As far as I am concerned, this is great. Maybe somebody at Radio3 is feeling sorry for me?

[Hmm. Last night's Essay has not been uploaded yet. At the time of posting, http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b042bqcz claims to be on DT, but is in fact last week's Edwardian offering. And the Ariosti is still there, masquerading as Qvixote and Gerhard Quartets, etc.]Last edited by Bryn; 08-05-14, 08:29.

Well, Wednesday’s TTN still plays Ariosti. Surely this is a fault, as I would rather like to hear the Quartet which is what I am looking at on the screen. A few other programmes I tried seemed to be fine. Very odd.
Just wish they were also playing some Gerhard.
