Relying on Microsoft Security Essentials? Bad Idea.

If anyone is relying on Microsoft Security Essentials for their antivirus protection it might be a good idea to think again.

Microsoft has admitted Windows users should install antivirus above and beyond its own Security Essentials, describing its protection as merely a "baseline" that will "always be on the bottom" of antivirus software rankings.

I am using it. HSBC advised it on their website so I assumed that it was a superior product. Thanks for the tip-off.

      internet security. Nightmare.
The only system i paid for (Panda) failed me badly.
Just relied on Free AVG and Microsoft essentials since then.

I have always felt that to some extent, you get what you pay for. I have used Kaspersky for years, and it has been very satisfactory - it seems to do the job, without causing problems. I have always found their Support service very responsive and helpful.

Ditto and ditto. And easy to renew, as I recall...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I used to use AVG but for the past few year have found the free version of Avast to be excellent (along with care of what I download or open). Their version for Android devices is also very useful.
