After clicking on What's New?

I'm returning to find that the headings are no longer turning pink, as had always been the case up until a couple of days ago. As a consequence it is becoming hard to know which new posts I've already checked.

Is anybody else finding this?

This thread has just turned pink for me - so all okay here.

The ones I'm assumed to have read are pink, the new ones are red, as usual.

But I have noticed that occasionally a thread doesn't turn pink even though I've opened its latest offering.

Perhaps it feels I haven't paid it enough attention.

Yes, I am finding the same problem as S-A. I am reading the latest posts but returning later I find they are still red so looking like I've never seen them. I've recently had a new laptop so wonder if this is part of the problem.

I also look on my phone during the working day but can't be asked to post as it is such a faff.

No probs here, just read Pet's post, returned to base, now it's all turned pink.
It's probably you guys with all your smart wireless ethernet technology!

I too have lost the distinction between read and unread threads. Nothing at my end has changed. Not being able to tell at a glance what I have and have not read is extremely bothersome.

Strange that you and DJ should have the problem. The thread view updates are cookie-based, so if the system doesn't detect the cookies it doesn't know you've read the latest posts on the thread.

The headings turn from red to pink when I've read them, which is, I think, as it should be. However, if I quit Firefox and then return here, everything is red again (suggesting it is unread - Shakespeare would have loved the potential for puns here). It's been like this for some time and I have learnt to live with it. Does the same thing happen with others?

(Having read FF's previous point about cookies, I have checked and I have cookies from for3.org )

That does happen if you actually close Firefox (in my case) - I've just checked; but I don't usually close it - does that do something to the cookies?

Btw, if you log out, don't you get the message 'All cookies cleared'? I don't log out.

No. I have it set to keep cookies. Otherwise I think I'd have to log in each time - and I don't.

It does, but I don't find that of much relevance. It's like being over-concerned about which television channel something is on, rather than just looking for the programme.
I suppose we all use the forum differently.
