    Proms iPlayer problem

When I try to listen again any Prom on iPlayer, including Proms Chamber Music, the image in the box flickers alarmingly. It is connected although I’m not sure if the sound quality is affected, as I haven't listen to it long enough to find out. It may be nothing to do with it but on all the Proms pages, what is normally in red (the speaker box on the left, ‘Show more’ etc.) is in purple. The rest of the programmes are perfectly normal.

Is this something that will right itself? The computer has been turned off but it has made no difference.

I wonder how you're accessing it. Try this page (if it's not the way you usually use, that is) and see what happens. Not sure what 'the speaker box' is.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Much prefer this one, personally. Note what I would interpret as the 'speaker boxes'.

Thank you, ff and Bryn. Both sites work. I usually access from the schedule page,
The best of the BBC, with the latest news and sport headlines, weather, TV & radio highlights and much more from across the whole of BBC Online

and it’s still the same if I try from there. By ‘speaker box’, I meant the picture of a loud speaker that appears on the left of the iPlayer box.

Now I can listen to The Tallis Scholars. Many thanks!!

[ed] Spoke too soon. Bryn's site does the same (flickers) now but ff's work. So far...

I know others have asked this but I can't remember the answer: what does 'Add' mean?

            Add to Favourite?

Re: Proms iPlayer. I wonder what it is that ff's site is different from the other two. The colour is one thing (litters in red or purple...)

Both built-in 'click to listen' panes on both sites seem to use Flash...at least right-clicking on them suggests this to be the case. Is your Flash up to date? Just a thought.

                Thank you for your thoughts.

I usually update whatever pops up on the screen, so I assume it is updated. What is puzzling is that it is only the Proms sites that are doing this. The letters and the symbols in Proms sites are all purple instead of red which seems to suggest that there is something in the Proms site that my PC (getting old…) can’t cope.

                  doversoul,

I've just checked on my PC and the Proms iPlayer webpages (navigated to from the schedule) do have a purple background to the speaker button.

It is probably an attempt at 'branding' and is absolutely nothing to worry about.

                    Thank you, johnb.
I am a bit over panicky about my PC at the moment as it has done a few odd things lately. In fact it completely froze on Radio3 site on Wednesday morning and restarting wasn’t very smooth.

As for the Proms site, it still flickers but the site ff suggested is normal (with red symbols!), so I shall use this address for iPlayer and try not to think about the problem too much.
