Deep joy - iPlayer radio downloads in 2014

The BBC launched its new standalone iPlayer Radio app for UK users last October, kicking off with iOS. While the Android incarnation finally followed suit in May this year, both apps still lacked one significant feature – downloads. As thin

Looks fairly certain that the Digital Rights Management issues have been resolved - or will be & finally it will be possible to download & listen without an Internet connection.
I use a little Griffin device to hook the iPod/iPhone to the car audio & broadcast on a spare channel...so now I'll be able to listen to those r3 faves....

An easy solution, or a widely understood solution to this issue would be great.
Might even improve BBC listening figures. i would love to be able to hear stuff like the folk show, here and now, and more of the world programmes while in the motor.
anybody got a quick n dirty solution to this which works now?

I guess so. I lose the will to be interested after a while AG, as I tend to find the time spent better actually listening to a CD or the Radio rather than faffing about with technology.
        Sad but true.
But I guess an MP3 is the start of a solution, though android phones might be another.

Mrs TS has the Aston, I prefer a sports tourer in my line of work*.

Radio Downloader a free application you can download works fine for me after training from my criminal daughter and produces standard mp3 files. Rumpole whilst noncommittal on the legality of this has expressed an interest......

Same as it ever was with the legal boys.

I might try downloader, so thanks for that AG.

I Have used RD for some time now. It downloads and converts to MP3 anything available on the iPlayer, in addition it is possible to subscribe to a series so it isn't necessary to manually download every edition.

The Beeb has "persuaded" Matt Robinson to remove their content from his Radio Downloader device.

Does anyone know of any other way of downloading BBC radio content? Like anotherbob, I found it an invaluably useful resource.

                  indeed and some

As someone who likes to listen to Radio 3 while driving, this was the alternative to the infantile drivel that is Breakfast, Essential Classics, In Tune and any programme in which the awful KD has a role. No more Composer of the Week while driving to work. No more Lunchtime Concerts while driving home. This is a sad day indeed. With iplayer downloads for playing offline not due until 2014, a void has opened up. I am going to have to augment my CD collection. Listening to Breakfast, Essential Classics etc. is not an option.

But my thanks to Matt Robinson for doing what he did while it lasted.

I tried using a download programme to record stuff; unfortunately every time the iplayer etc went into 'buffering' mode (which happens frequently it treated each section as a different file. If the Beeb is going to make it possible to download all programmes (as one can do with podcasts) then I'm all for it, even if I do have to wait until 2014.

                      "Disappointing" doesn't really cover it.
