    Messages too short.

When replying to a thread with a contributor's quote, I sometimes get an error message telling me that my message is too short. I add a sentence and try again, but it still fails. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong ?
Sorry if this is a bit off thread.

I've occasionally had the problem, usually when I've erroneously gone inside a quote.

I think what happened (thinking back to when the same has happened to me) is that you have inadvertently typed what you want to write inside the quote box - when you press "Post Reply", there appears to the Forum programme to be no actual message other than what is within the quotes...

I've just tried it deliberately with this message and indeed I got the 'message too short, make sure your message has at least 1 character' notification.

Make sure what you type is after the "[/QUOTE]" end of the quotation - you should have no bother.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It's an easy one to get caught out on, especially if the quote is a long one of several paragraphs and the quote windows terminates at the end of one of them.

So glad to see this thread as I've been caught by this but, as always, think I'm the only one.

However, I did work out what was wrong as posted above, tricky though as the message sort of moves about of it's own volition.

Indeed. One character seems not too much to ask for

(I've been caught on it too). And Brownie points for those who edit their quotes, so that only the relevant bit appears.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

                              But doesn't everybody do that?

I've been caught by the 'message too short' problem too - usually if I've quoted a query from a post & answered it with a quote from another post.
