Can't find an English language article, but Qobuz have been rescued by a French multi-media company. No doubt the devil will be in the detail, but things are looking better than they were a month or so ago.

Mmmm...I think maybe I need to revisit this. Penny-pinching I opted for the 320kbps MP3 format. Listening to the Kempe Lohengrin with Thomas, Ludwig and DFD some of the female vocals sound really rough. For example, this track...

Listening to the same track on the Presto Classical website http://www.prestoclassical.co.uk/r/W...4564652#listen does not show any of this roughness. I wonder what format/bitrate the Presto site samples are done at.

If anyone has a Qobuz subscription to the 320kbps MP3 or higher/better quality bitrates I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

I have a 320kbps mp3 subscription, and funnily enough have just today engaged in contact with QOBUZ re. a whole host of serious glitches in their mp3 stream offering of Feldman's 2nd String Quartet (Ives Ensemble). They were very apologetic and are withdrawing the title until they can get the issue resolved. Meanwhile I have found and ordered an 'As New' CD set of the recording for a similar price to the QOBUZ lossless download which I was put off downloading by the problems I found with the mp3 offering. However, in general I have found the 320kbps mp3 stream reliable and, indeed, of greater dynamic range than the FLAC stream I had access to as a 'free' bonus at the start of my subscription.

I discovered that I can upgrade to the Hi-Fi CD quality for a trial period and listening to the same piece of music has been revelatory. The improvement in quality is staggering.

I've been looking at Sublime, because my experience of downloading music from Qobuz has been good, so how about the streaming?. However, I do feel that Apple Music has a much wider selection of available music. This is based on not much more than a handful of searches on both services, so how representative my initial view is, is hard to say.

My impression is that Apple music has a better rock/pop selection, but Qobuz has better Jazz and Classical choice. Also Qobuz seems to have better meta-data.

That was also my sense. I've always been able to find the classical music that I was after on Qobuz.

Weird, I'm really only thinking about classical. Apple seems to have things that Qobuz doesn't. But as I said, it's based on a relatively small number of searches.

For example, I searched Alexander Goehr in Apple Music and Qobuz and the Apple results were significantly better.

Having heard some amazing music on R3's Record Review this morning (Elena Langer, 'Landscape With Three People', UA) I had a good listen (played the entire CD 3 times) on Apple Music, I decided I need my own copy for portable non-internet use, etc). So I looked on Amazon for the CD and they have it (CD & download), and decided to check on Qobuz to see how much the download would be. But they haven't got it!

I've bought 11 titles so far from Qobuz and I really like the customer experience and product quality. But find that they often don't have what I'm looking for, while Apple Music, Amazon et al do. It's quite frustrating.
