    Amazon Cloud

i believe this started just today ..... used it when purchased the Melos ensemble essentials on mp3 [wee bargains thread]

Cloud just seems to work ... you can access yor content on Amazon servers across the web and download to your own drive, but all your devices will work Cloud given your basic Amzon log in ...

can't wait till the kindle fire arrives now ...

    Every cloud

It's been around for a while & there are plenty to choose from.
    Apple has iCloud
Microsoft has cloud based versions of Office on a monthly rental.

Ive had most of my music (about 8000 tracks) in the cloud for a year ( still on mp3, CD, vinyl, cassette too) & it has been a pleasant experience. Uploading some of the longer tracks (2 hours long - about as long as some radio shows) was problematic, so I didn't bother.

In most places most of the time I can find free wifi. If not then the phone package I've got lets me use the 3G network to access it.

I pay an annual charge that works out at 2 quid a month, & my monthly phone bill rarely exceeds £20.
    So I'm a fan.

I purchased a Jochum Brahms Symphony cycle as my first foray into the cloud a few days ago. I dislike having to manually advance the player between movements. This was more of a pain on other mp3 recordings that I had purchased on Amazon that were automatically moved to the cloud after I had "activated" the player. Having to advance each track of the Goldberg Variations is annoying. The original Aristrocrat that commissioned the work to help him fight insomnia wouldn't have gotten a wink of sleep!

Think it's been available in Ireland for a few months already - so I don't know why they were holding back in the UK.
Maybe had to drag another couple of large pipes across the sea bed for all the irregularly shaped bits & bytes to filter down?

I've downloaded my max 250 free tracks to the Amazon cloud - all seems easy. Anyone using it seriously? Or jocularly come to that...

I really just wanted to know what folks think of the kindle fire. Any thoughts?
would mainly want to use it for browsing and reading but maybe accessing the odd word document (can they be edited on a Fire)?
Also, is BBC i player accessible? any big plusses or minuses generally?

                  Music? worth playing with?

because i can read and listen to music on my headphones on the train, watch the news in bed, check my email and forget it as i read ... not got round to the movies thing yet

but as far as reading goes it is a low eye strain no brainer and fits in a jacket pocket .... the cloud is a necessary support for all this delight
