    Downloads, CDs and iTunes

If I buy a download and install it into iTunes, then subsequently buy the equivalent CD and rip it to iTunes (say ALAC), will I lose the download version?

No. I've bought a track here or there in the past, on the basis of which I decided I wanted the CD... and imported the disc into iTunes (don't know what your ALAC reference is though). The downloaded tracks remained.

Thanks for info. ALAC= Apple Lossless Audio Codec, similar to FLAC = Free Lossless Audio Codec. Saves having to use lossy formats such as AAC or MP3, and quality should be as good as the CD.
