Has anyone found an easier way to transfer a playlist from iTunes to an iPod when you have many, many playlists in iTunes? The method I use is to select the playlist from the iTunes list of playlists and drag it up the screen but therein lies the problem as the iPod is offscreen. The only solution is to drag to the top of the list and hover until the list starts to scroll downwards (which is a very hit and miss affair at the best of times) until the iPod comes into view and then dropping the playlist there. When you have a long list of playlists aka CDs then the scrolling down of the list takes forever.

I'm away from my machine, but can't you highlight the playlist then copy it (CTRL+C) then click on the iPod and paste the playlist (CTRK+V)?Steve -
Sorry if I'm missing the point but...
If you select your iPod under the 'Devices' section on the left-hand side within iTunes, then select the 'Music' tab on the right, the options for syncing music should be 'Entire music library', which will automatically copy across all your songs and playlists, or 'Selected playlists, albums, artists and genres' that, if selected, will show you all your playlists, etc. so you just click in the checkbox beside the ones you wish to copy (and click on 'Apply', of course)

Steve...copy/paste doesn't work..even if it did, you'd still need to scroll upwards to get to the iPod to paste it.
Word...firstly I don't like 'automatic' things..I like to decide what goes across. But more importantly, my iTunes library is about 10x the capacity of my weedy iPod! Plus given the awful strictures that the iPod display places on classical music (no display for composer, for example) I have to modify my iTunes music so that Album becomes composer ...so that I can actually find stuff on the iPod. If I had automatic syncing then before I'd altered the data etc it would probably have synced across.
I have found the answer which is a nifty little bit of Applescript from here http://dougscripts.com/itunes/script...ewipodplaylist. Set up a shortcut key and so so simple now.
On a slight bit of off-topic but another useful tip I came across when making up playlists for classical music, such as opera, that spans several CDs is as follows. If, say, the first part of Act 2 is on the last five tracks of CD1 and the remainder is on the first six tracks of CD2 then creating a playlist in the correct order was tricky as my usual trick of sorting by track number no longer works. The solution is to sort by album (after you have highlighted the tracks that make up all of Act 2) which bizarrely works....even though as far as the visual data displayed is concerned it looks as if you have five tracks with the same data which identifies CD1 and six tracks with another set that identifies CD2. Bit difficult to explain but hope you get my drift.Comment
