Ye, that's it. lots of people agreed with me and two years later it's DAB that's in trouble with DAB 2 etc.
      not to mention car radios

when this happened all over the rest of the country no one said owt about it you soft bloody southerners ... we had months of messing about with a weak digital signal first and several retunes and still had change for chips and black pudding ....

The BBC and newspapers have been warning us for wekks about the need to retune, and London viewers will have to do it again on the 18th April, when the last analogue transmitter will be switched off. I successfully retuned without difficulty on my main set up, but the spare Humax box that I sometimes use has failed repeatedly to find BBC1 & BBC 2, although it worked perfectly before.

I suspect that transmitter output might be down a bit during the changeover, so I'll try again after the 18th

No, not any more it ain't!
It used to be on 80, then switched over to 811 and now it's 59 (just checked), with Sky News on 62 and RT on 63 etc. Heaven only knows where it will be tomorrow.

              Sorry about the "probably".

                :
... ain't that weird! My Radio Times says BBC News is on freeview 80 - and my telly certainly produces BBC News when I press 80... If I try 59 (or 62 or 63) it says "programme number not available."..

Radio Times also says that BBC News is on Freesat 200, Sky 503, Virgin 601

All most bafflin'. And after 18 April??

That's odd - I've just got the News on 80 as usual. I have a digi box bought through the BBC scheme and updated channel 2 successfully yesterday.

There seem to be lots of anomalies in this change-over

I suggest that you check the country setting on your tv or digibox. My mother had a similar problem last year with channels appearing in odd places. On checking I discovered that her TV was operating under the impression she was in Austria. Resetting the country to the UK resolved the problem and all the channels were restored to their correct order.

The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Just checked and guess what: another Austria! Have rescanned and BBC News is back where it belongs: Ch 80.

                      Many thanks LHC!

Has S-A got sorted out, or rather his TV? I hope he rang that number I gave him, they are very helpful.

Complete mess saly. Autotuning has put BBCs 1 and 2 on 23, so I guess that's why BBC2 cuts back to BBC 1, and having no manual I can't figure out the manual tuning. Whichever way I try it nothing seems to get changed, and in fiddling around I inadvertently switched the TV country of "make" to Deutch, just by scrolling up, and now can't get the original menu window back up. I can get BBC1, BBC4, BBC Parliament, Ch2, CH3, CH4 and CH5 but nothing else. BBC1 now comes up on several other channel numbers previously transmitting freeview digital networks. My phone's in here, the telly in the other room. If I take the phone in the other room it disables the computer because the arrangement I have is that they're plugged into a double socket on an extension from the other room. I really haven't the time to go messing on with this for another day. I think I'll just make do with what I can get - I'm not a big viewer so it doesn't really matter, except for knowing I'm paying my license fee meanwhile for channels I can't get. Oh well... until the 18th, see what happens then.

Maybe my problem has something to do with proximity to the C Palace transmitter, but in the shadow of the block of flats I live in. This has been a problem with analog all along.

Morning S-A, Doesn't your computer expert friend know anything about tuning TVs ? Just a thought.

In my case TV seems okay; computer is all over the place and as the cursor seems to have St Vitus
Dance or summit I can never control it. Click on something and it flies off in another direction.

                            Have a nice Easter anyway.

Bit like the old light bulb jokes - how many postings does it need to tune a telly? Actually the rural south-west used to be the butt of jokes like 've they got electric down there yet? We got our digital conversion out of the way ages ago - you London and south-easterners are the 21st century backwoodsmen!

                                Hi saly

I used to have your computer mouse problem when the mouse was a plug-in type to the back of the computer. Is yours of that kind? If so, the "loose cursor" problem might be because of muck inevitably accumulated on the rubber ball over time. I used to unscrew the rim underneath the mouse to release the rubber ball, give the ball a wash in lukewarm soapy water, rinse off and thoroughly dry before putting in back in. That worked for a while, but eventually the problem recurred, and I was told the mouse had reached the end of its life. I replaced it with a battery-operated mouse, which is powered by 3 AAA batteries - the tiddly ones, which can be bought comparatively cheaply in packs of 6 or 8; a pair usually last me about 4 days, the only problem really being in getting the damn things out of the packaging! The cursor is now much more responsive to this particular mouse, and "loose kite" problem only occurs when the batteries need replacing.

And a nice Good Friday to yourself, too!
