The web browser is pretty rubbish. Acceptable for emergency use only IMHO. If you have a 3G Kindle it's also free to use abroad.

Plug in an SD card and transfer the images onto one of these devices. Then using that device, upload the images to Flickr.

Or using a USB cable, plug in a camera, transfer the photos from the camera into your device as a backup. Then upload to Flickr.

I have been using iPads daily for a couple of years now. I agree with some of your criticisms, but they still get a lot of use, and often my main computers don't get turned on.

What mobile devices do you recommend? I don't think they're all equally good. Just saying Android isn't enough - we need brands and models.

Dave2002...I'm the wrong person to ask for mobile device recommendation! My mobile phone doesn't even have a camera! I can see the validity of the iPad in some circumstances....just for me, I don't really need one. It was a means to an end and it achieved it..albeit with some difficulty. Looking back, I did buy some Apps for it and which never got used. These apps are now sitting on my iMac should I ever feel the urge to get a iMobile device again. The chances of that are slim as after I bought the secondhand iPad back in January and tested out its interconnectivity, setting up email etc I dumped it on my desk and it gradually got covered over with paper work. I never went near it!
