Just checking through the Applications folder and I found a number of png and a couple of jpg files. How did they get into that folder? In one case there were about 20 files which should have been in a single folder and stored within another folder on the desktop. It looks as if I didn't create a folder for them but just saved them without looking to check where they'd gone - 20 times!!! 
I've now created the missing folder and copied all the pngs into it, so can delete the files in Applications - but how did they get there in the first place?
