    Macos Monterey

Looks like I can now install macos Monterey on one of our machines. What does it offer that Catalina doesn't?

I didn't bother with Big Sur either. However some of the apps I use can't be updated to the latest versions because of compatibility issues, so I might have to actually "do" this one.

Saw that heading and I thought it was about a jazz performer I’d never heard of!

Yep, something like that. Meanwhile, I'm satisfied with Mojave.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

As a participant in Apple's Beta Test programme, I'm now up to Monterey 12.2. So far - touch wood - I'd say it was more stable than its predecessor (was that Big Sur - I can't now remember - or maybe it was the MacOS before that) with which I had some compatibility and stability issues. I fear that I'm one of those irresponsible Mac users who simply upgrades without thinking (and certainly not obsessing) about the finer nuances of the particular version of the OS I happen to be using.

I haven’t hit the install button yet as I wonder whether some other software which I’ve not installed yet might actually be incompatible. Catalina did cause some problems in so far as it rendered some software unusable, but now I have the issue of balancing some packages which might benefit from their upgrades against a possibility of some other packages giving up the ghost.

I think I’ll install packages first before considering the OS “upgrade”
