    Sky Arts

We have two TVs, one a a rather old one we occasionally glance at in the kitchen. The other is our 'main' set, though not a 'Smart' TV.
On the latter we can get Sky Arts on Ch 11. The former doesn't have Ch 11 for some reason.

Anyway, that's all irrelevant to my question which is, how can I get Sky Arts on my PC or iPhone? The website just seems to be unfathomable, though I do see a 'watch without adverts' notice. Not much help if you're too thick to get the station anyway!

    Help appreciated.

Can’t answer your second part - the first part just probably you need to retune your kitchen set to update your freeview channels.

I don't think SkyArts is available for free online, even though it is now on Freeview (I've checked the Freeview website, and while you can access live streams of many channels from there, SkyArts isn't one of them). I suspect you can only access it online by subscribing to Now TV, or if you are already subscribed to Sky, BT or Virgin which provide you with streaming apps.

As cloughie has already suggested, returning your kitchen TV should sort out access to channel 11.

The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Probably here for your iPhone although I haven't used it myself so not sure if they have every single channel:

Enjoy your favourite Freeview shows wherever you are, all for free with the Freeview mobile app.

I don't think you can watch Sky Arts on your PC for free, but you can if you subscribe to NOW TV (which is owned by SKy and has other SKy content):

Choose your NOW Membership and stream the latest movies, tv series, live sports and kids entertainment on demand.

LHC is correct, I just tried the iPhone app and it's identical to their web service which doesn't carry Sky Arts.

I've seen articles about USB tuners you can attach to a pc. If the reception is poor, it might need a co-ax lead to an aerial feed. (why I've not tried it - after the demise of my Panasonic freeview dvd recorder. (demise was on the TV scheduling data)).

Probably like me one day it worked and it hasn’t worked since. Bought a Humax to replace it, which has to date done an excellent job, apart from the annoying wait to warm up and allow selection from the remote. That was a few, probably 3 years ago and just before that a hitherto excellent Panasonic television suddenly stopped working - tried to get it repaired - and this could only be done with a second-hand spare part - not only had Panasonic stopped production of the TVs which still carry their badge but also stopped producing or making available any replacement parts.

The "Guide Plus" schedule service came to an end and the machine was unuseable - manufacturers won't pay to support old product (or recent by the sound of it) - we need to keep buying at regular intervals. The same will happen to dedicated audio streaming units - whether very expensive or modestly priced (I've gone for very modestly priced, but delivering bit perfect lossless output).
I've got a replacement for TV - high capacity Hard Disc recorder (not Humax or Panasonic) but programmes stay on the Hard Disk taking up space or have to be deleted. There is enough to watch on Sky arts, even if the programmes are a little generalised......

Apart from music, opera and dance I find other interesting programmes - including one on Turner, his artworks of Norham Castle in particular and friendship with Scott in the Scottish Borders. Very much our family connection area and stamping ground - numerous visits to Norham Castle, Smailholm Tower, Abbotsford and the Eildon Hills. Its taken visits over 40 years to find out about the Turner connection....... (I could kick myself, the earlier Turner of Norham was on exhibition at The Higgins gallery in Bedford until the summer).

Thanks for your replies. Life ain't easy is it? I'll just stick to our main TV, and maybe have a fiddle with the older one.

I have to laugh at online stuff. Companies always say 'simply' register with us or 'It will only take a minute' blah blah blah.
Our old energy supplier went belly-up along with loads of others. The new one said all the above (it took Mrs A more than a minute and it wasn't simple) after which we were told to go onto our old supplier's website to see our 'account'. Erm......

Currently on Sky Arts, an intriguing Berlin production of Purcell and Dryden's fantastical opera King Arthur. It gets repeated early Wednesday morning, from 06:00 to 09:00. https://www.tvguide.co.uk/m-detail/4...56/king-arthur

Oh, the singing is in 'sort of' English but the spoken text is in German. I am rather enjoying it. There are English subtitles for the spoken text.
