This situation has been exacerbated by continual ear problems for much of this year, first wax then a horrible blockage caused by eustachian tube dysfunction to which I'm unfortunately prone. It goes eventually but the weeks without music can be a real frustration! The pile of unplayed CDs continues to grow in the meantime and I'll hopefully get round to them in time. Things are better now so should be able to catch up again soon.

Sorry to hear that - enjoy the catch up - the other problem is the temptation to add to the pile!

Would bone conduction headphones help (even as lo-fi)?
I've not tried them myself, but I did experiment with a RasPi "bone conductor transducer" for night-time listening without disturbing my better half.

On CD deterioration, I have a few ASV CDs that have gone golden and often skip, e.g. Marais' "Pieces de Violes".
