    iPlayer problems

We haven't been able to make iPlayer work properly on our Toshiba smart TV during the last few days. I notice that we seemed to be using a Beta version. It loads, but then fails to actually run the selected programma. I tried unplugging the TV and restarting, but all to no avail. There doesn't seem to be any way to uninstall the app - and maybe reinstall it.

    This is a real pain.

Similar issue here, perhaps, but not so infuriating - iPlayer watched via the app installed on a 2 year old Panasonic hard drive recorder.... Programmes launch ok but sometimes randomly stutter i.e. the picture freezes although the audio continues until the image catches up. It seems to happen more if the pause or re-wind function is used too much. I find the same thing happens with the Amazon Prime app sometimes. Netflix always seems perfectly stable (fingers crossed).

Software in the unit is supposedly updated as & when required... but I wonder if the apps have been developed and older (it’s not that old ) units don’t keep up, and start to struggle to cope with the streaming signal...

I can’t help further, other than sympathise...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Same here with a Sony Android TV, 3 yrs old. I suspect its not kept up to date. I'm wondering whether to buy a Google Chromecast, which will use an HDMI input. Then I can use the iPlayer app in a mobile or tablet to cast to the TV on that Chromecast. (And keep the mobile/tablet app up to date by uninstalling and then re-installing the iPlayer app. As far as I can see, Sony decide what apps are available to me on the TV and I can't uninstall or re-install.....

The iplayer app on my Samsung Smart TV disappeared some while ago, at about the time that we were asked to register. The app reappeared much later but connecting to it all it shows is the 'Explore the BBC' banner which lists Home, Sport, iplayer, CBBC etc but there's no way of accessing anything.

The youTube app went long ago, never to reappear, likewise the BPO Digital Concert Hall so it renders the 'smart' aspect of the TV completely useless. The TV is nine years old which may explain a lot but otherwise works fine.

Not a problem as such but I was surprised to see that the whole appearance of the daily radio schedules pages on Sounds has completely changed in the last 36 hours. Is it the same for everyone? Or is it a selective roll-out? (As happened to Facebook over the last nine months.)
