My rather elderly laptop (Windows 8! and seven years old - it didn't like the update to Windows 10 so I uninstalled that way back in 2016) has, over the past month, unexpectedly started showing the warning yellow triangle over the internet access bars. No pattern to this - today it had been on maybe half an hour, and working fine; other occasions it has been on all day. Plugging it into the router with an ethernet cable gets the connection back (the router itself is working) and so it looks as though the wifi adapter is cutting out unpredictably. Going to device settings tells me that the drivers are correctly installed and working properly, although they (it?) clearly are (is?) not. The adapter in question (Realtek rtl8188ee) seems, according to a quick Google search, to be a bit problematic generally, and uninstalling and reinstalling it hasn't made a lot of difference. The solution to getting the wifi to work again seems to be to shut down and start again which is a pain.
Anyone else had a similar issue, and any advice?
