Apple magic mouse - and email

Is there a nice way to stop Apple's magic mice from scrolling left or right while trying to scroll through email?
This is using the trackpad surface on the top of the mouse.
This is really annoying and seems to have got worse over the last few versions of MacOS.

Seems that using two fingers instead of one does that, but I don't want to use two fingers - just one is enough!

      Anything here?

The Mac Magic Mouse with multi-touch is fantastic for many users, allowing you to swipe and scroll around through documents by touch alone, but some people may find that they accidentally trigger t…
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I’ve used, and loved, a Magic Mouse for years and never had that problem. Adjust the sensitivity settings perhaps?

I really like the mouse - but something seems to have changed over the last six or so months. I don't want to have to use two fingers when only one would (previously) have sufficed. Using two fingers does suppress the unwanted sea sickness inducing motions.

I agree 100%. You only have to slightly mis-swipe sideways and the email title you're on slides left or right and then Mail decides to take an age releasing its control and letting you get on with what you want to do next. There is no fix. It's a global feature and can't be made program specific. Another example of IIABFDI. If it ain't bust don't fix it.

The best option is going to the Apple feedback page and posting there. If enough people did it then maybe they might change it.

BTW. mine has this annoying feature with just 1 finger.

I think if you use 2 fingers the problem goes away or is reduced. My point - now that I know that - is that we shouldn't have to change what we want to do just because some systems designer somewhere decides to change the way things worked.

No it doesn't. The issue is using the finger to click. On my MM, that request to click gets interpreted as a request to swipe L/R.
