Morning all. I downloaded the above app onto my macbook air (2012 with OSX 10.11.6) . Every time I try to log in I get the message 'Internet connection has been lost , you are now in offline mode." The app downloaded and worked fine on my Ipad (14.2). So on my macbook I'm using the web browser which for some reason works fine with Firefox and Chrome - but not at all on Safari. The problem with using the browser on FF and Chrome is that when listening to an opera theres a one sec audible gap between tracks which is a tad irritating . Many thanks for any suggestions. I am trying to avoid upgrading the OS becuase Im 99% sure if I do I will lose an expensive video edit system...

I never used the app as I only use Qobuz on MacBooks; started with the Qobuz website itself as the server in 2016, but soon moved to using Qobuz on Audirvana on a 2014 Macbook Pro. I don't update Safari much and always use the latest Firefox there on the rare occasions I browse on it.
But - but but but - the Mac Pro is a dedicated music server only, so I don't often use it for anything else. My utility MacAir (2016, Safari 11.1.2 or latest Firefox) runs Qobuz/Audirvana smoothly too though, alongside all its business, finance and shopping uses...
On Audirvana+ Qobuz works perfectly. Occasionally I've found that Qobuz has gone offline, but I update the Audirvana+ to the latest version and all is well again, smooth and quick.

I was meticulous in downloading the right app for my OS abut it just won’t open. I also downloaded chrome to test the Qubuz web player on that but still the same problem.
I don’t want to upgrade to a new OS because those have who done so have lost a single licence video edit system called Final Cut Pro (not a video ) which costs £300 or so to replace. Very annoying but that’s Apple for you ...

Ok...two separate issues going on here. (1) problem with the Qobuz app. and (2) problem accessing the Qobuz website using Safari.
(1). Has the Qobuz app ever worked on your Macbook Air or is this the first time you've tried it? If it's the first time then try deleting and then re-installing it. Also the obvious...reboot your Macbook Air.
(2). Which version of Safari are you running ? If you're not sure how to find that, just go to About Safari when you're using Safari. I have a fair number of versions of Safari and so might be able to try this end.
Regarding upgrading the OS...do you have enough room on your hard drive (or SSD) to partition it and create a dual-boot system ?
I strongly recommend you downloading a trial of Audirvana. It solved all my Qobuz issues at a stroke and I thank JLW for suggesting it.
Let us know how you get on.Fewer Smart things. More smart people.

Hi Anastasius and thanks
No the app has never worked on the MacBook Air . I have downloaded the app via safari and also via chrome. Also tried delete and reinstall but I’ll try again via Firefox
.
Sorry to be thick but doesn’t the app work independently of the browser?
Version of safari 11.1.2
Version of chrome dunno but downloaded yesterday
Don’t fancy a dual boot ‘cos I don’t know what it is and I don’t know how to do it !

No, you're not being thick. That's a perfectly reasonable question. You are correct. The app is independent of the browser. In fact, it doesn't matter which browser you use to download the app...there are enough checks and balances that the qobuz.dmg file you download using Safari will be exactly the same as the qobuz.dmg that you download using chrome.
That's strange. I have my old iMac running the same version of OSX/Safari as you and have no problem either with the Qobuz app or Safari.
It would be helpful if you went to https://www.etrecheck.com and ran their very nifty program. It flags up any issues that are worth investigating and also produces a report that does not contain any confidential information and so can be emailed to a third party or posted up on a forum.
Using the same numbering system...
(1) The other thought I have is that possibly another program that you have installed might be giving a conflict with the Qobuz app. Etrecheck will list all those 'extra' items.
(2) With regard to Safari..have you tried temporarily disabling all your extensions ? If you're not sure how to do this just ask.
Definitely worth giving Audirvana a go.Fewer Smart things. More smart people.

Hi Heldenleben
I just tried streaming Rheingold using Safari and that also has noticeable gaps between tracks. It's the same issue with some CD players. What you're after is 'gapless playback' and a quick Google tells me that the Qobuz web player does not have gapless playback. So regardless of whichever browser you use, you will always have gaps. So for opera, I would forget trying to use a browser.
Have you tried contacting Qobuz support about the inability to login using their app ?Fewer Smart things. More smart people.

I can understand your confusion, since the desktop version is actually a browser app (optimised for Google Chrome). On your MacBook you're better off bypassing a browser altogether and using the stand-alone (desktop) version. You can download the desktop version here.
Turning to your problem with opera playback, I've dipped into a few complete-opera recordings using my desktop Qobuz app (version 5.7.2) and encountered no problems with gapless listening.

But as per my earlier post, even if you get Safari working, you're no closer to playing opera without gaps between tracks. So I wouldn't worry about Safari not working. I think we need to work on trying to figure out why your Qobuz app isn't working properly.
